About James Stuart
I have lived in Italy, primarily in Naples, and I went to university in Edinburgh, but I am now back in my native city of Glasgow.
Before I became a full-time translator I worked in food retail and wholesale, managing a specialist cheese shop.
I have also worked as a teacher of English as a foreign language and in university administration.
In 2002 I graduated with an MA(Hons) Degree in Italian and History of Art from the University of Edinburgh. My degree ranged widely, from classical art and architecture to contemporary performance art, from renaissance poetry to neorealist cinema and, of course, involved deep study of the Italian language.
I continue to visit Italy as frequently as I can, dividing my attention between friends (and food) in Naples, Sicily and Milan.
In my spare time I am usually found enjoying a book or a podcast, in either English or Italian, and I am a volunteer with a local youth organisation.
If you would like a copy of my CV, please send me an email.
